Hi there and welcome to Geeky Getaways.
My name is Karen Wrigglesworth, and I specialise in writing simply and beautifully about all kinds of interesting engineering things - from heritage to cutting-edge stories, and everything in between.
My articles have been published since 2007 in newspapers and magazines in NZ, Australia and the UK (see www.inkcom.co.nz to learn more). I mostly write for adults, but I have recently started writing for children as well – which is great fun (and a greater challenge!).
I’m keen to spread the word about how cool and uncomplicated engineering can be. There are many, many wonderful places with an engineering flavour that you can visit, including ‘everyday’ places like that bridge we cross everyday on our way to work, or even the road we drive on. (I’ll be telling you about how all roads are not the same in a future posting.)
I hope that this blog will help to demistify engineering a little for you, and that it might even inspire you to see the world around you with fresh eyes. My aim is not to give you an ‘education’, but instead to give you an ‘appreciation’.
Enjoy your Geeky Getaway. I hope to see you again soon!
Karen
